Mission: EFMP is to identify and document the special medical and/or educational needs of a soldier's family members and to ensure that those needs are considered during the assignment process. Enrollment in the Exceptional Family Member Program is mandatory for all active duty military dependents that may require special medical or educational services based on a diagnosed physical, intellectual, or emotional handicap. Disabilities may range from mild to severe. Special needs include any special medical, mental health, developmental or educations requirement, wheelchair accessibility, adaptive equipment, or assistive technology devices and services. Screening is required for all family members requesting travel to an overseas assignment.
